The Mizuno Neo Vista 3 is, without question, one of my favourite running shoes in my current rotation. It combines exceptional cushioning with a responsive ride, creating a shoe that feels particularly impressive across mid to long-distance runs.
The Ride: Maximum Cushioning Without Losing Responsiveness
The standout feature of the Neo Vista 3 is the combination of its nitrogen-infused Mizuno Enerzy NXT midsole and 3D-engineered fibreglass plate. Together, they provide excellent cushioning and shock absorption while still allowing the shoe to feel lively and responsive underfoot.
There is plenty of protection from impact, particularly as the miles begin to build, but it never feels excessively heavy or cumbersome. Instead, the Neo Vista 3 manages to deliver that highly cushioned sensation while still giving you enough energy return to keep the run feeling enjoyable.
Performance: At Its Best Over Mid to Long Runs
For me, the Neo Vista 3 really comes into its own over comfortable mid to long-distance runs. The cushioning helps keep the legs feeling protected, while the responsive platform prevents it from becoming a shoe that only works at very slow recovery paces.
It is also more stable than its high-stack appearance might suggest. Despite the amount of cushioning underneath the foot, the shoe feels reassuringly controlled and makes a very capable daily trainer as well as an excellent recovery option.
Comfort: High Praise From Personal Experience
Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give the Neo Vista 3 comes from my own recent running. I have been running with a strained ankle for several weeks and, in my experience, I have been able to run in the Neo Vista 3 without discomfort.
That is extremely high praise for the cushioning and impact protection the shoe provides, and it has quickly become one of the pairs I reach for when comfort is the priority.
Fit and Feel
The Neo Vista 3 does fit slightly on the tighter side, so runners who prefer a particularly roomy shoe may want to keep that in mind. The upper may also not suit every runner depending on individual foot shape and preference.
Underfoot, however, the balance is excellent. The 8mm heel-to-toe drop feels like a real sweet spot, providing a familiar and natural transition without making the shoe feel overly aggressive.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a highly cushioned running shoe that still delivers plenty of responsiveness, I cannot recommend the Mizuno Neo Vista 3 highly enough.
It offers excellent impact protection, surprising stability, and enough energy return to keep longer runs feeling enjoyable. Whether you use it as a comfortable daily trainer, a recovery shoe, or something specifically for building mileage, the Neo Vista 3 is an exceptionally capable option.
