This review is based on an experience with the Brooks Mens Hyperion Max 3 Road Running Shoes
A fun smooth rolling shoe is the best way I can describe the Hyperion Max 3. The first thing I noticed was the secure fit on the upper - mainly due to the thick gusseted tongue and the almost sock like heel cup and upper. Brooks always seem to get the upper on their trainers spot on. I actually had this shoe in half a size too big which worried me, but the secure fit meant I had no issues at all with sizing.
The next thing I noticed was the huge stack height, and I actually thought the shoe might be unstable but that wasn't the case at all. The blend of two foams meant that you could really feel the responsive forefoot, and the more stable foam in the heel. I found the shoe was able to cope at all paces - although for me I felt the shoe coped better at around 4:30/5:00 min km's and when I turned the pace up to sub 4 minutes it maybe didn't quite perform as expected.
I do love the versatility of this shoe though and have taken it out for a number of different types of sessions. I have done easy runs, tempo runs, sessions and long runs in this shoe, and it coped really well with everything.
Who would I recommend this shoe to? Pretty much anyone. However if you are a runner who prefers a bit more ground feel then the big stack height may feel too much. And if you are expecting a really fast session shoe this maybe isn't the right shoe. If however you are looking for a really fun shoe, that feels incredibly comfortable and can cope with pretty much any distance and pace - this shoe is perfect for you.
